Bay Leaf Solitaire Engagement Ring

An archaeologist could not be given an ordinary solitaire ring.

In the ancient Greek world, the laurel was strongly associated with the cult of Apollo and, in particular, with Delphi. The ancient writer Pausanias reports that the prize awarded to the winners at the Pythian Games held in Delphi was a laurel wreath.

In the Roman world, laurel was associated with military victory and the tradition of the triumph. Commanders who led victory processions carried a laurel branch and wore a laurel wreath.

We have reinterpreted this historical motif in a custom engagement ring. Handcrafted laurel branches frame the center stone on both sides.
