Dothraki Arakh Necklace

Dothraki Arakh Necklace,

Does the arakh—the signature weapon of the Dothraki people in the *Game of Thrones* series—have a place in Turkish culture?

The origins of this necklace go back much further than a TV series.

The arakh, the weapon of the Dothraki people, has a shape that’s a cross between a sword and a scythe, and it’s a weapon that also exists in authentic Mongolian culture.

Martin explains that he drew inspiration from Mongol and Hun steppe cultures when creating this people. The interesting part is that the origins of the Huns remain a mystery among historians to this day. Some link them to early Turkic communities, while a new linguistic study published last year put forward a different theory.
When you trace the origins of this curved sword, you arrive at a real, still-debated mystery of the steppe that goes beyond fiction.

In our workshop, we crafted this story in silver for our client: an engraved silver hilt, black diamonds reminiscent of the night sky set in 14-karat rose gold, and a crescent-shaped, hammered silver blade.
